2. my calves are BURNING. burning, I tell you! you walk SO much here! (especially when trying to find an apartment.)
3. I haven't felt unsafe once yet. there is SO much security down in the financial district, it's crazy.
4. it's really hard finding a place for 2 people with only one income (currently) documented. also, there is so much paperwork involved with getting an apartment, I feel like we're buying a home.
5. the metro in paris is hands-down way nicer than the subway in NYC. just sayin'.
6. when you're walking down the street, more often than not, the conversations you hear are in a different language. it makes you feel like you're in some exotic location.
7. I really, really, really miss portland. but that's a whole other post.
8. the subway system is slightly scary when you think about how far underground you are and how basically all of manhattan sits on top of subway tunnels. and some of them go really fast.
okay, so i'm going to try to keep this blog updated to document this little adventure of ours... we're not really sure how long we'll be here, so might as well make the most of it! i've been a little bit terrible at taking photos, only because i've been so distracted with finding a place to live before our hosts come back. i've finally found a place and will show photos of that soon. for now, here are some (kinda boring - sorry) photos of what i've seen so far:

| the subway is our main mode of transportation. it's way easy and convenient. but smells bad sometimes. |

I doubt I'll ever go to NYC, so I love seeing your photos/hearing about your adventures!
thanks, cassie! knowing someone is reading makes me more inspired to keep documenting. :)
What a fun and exciting adventure! Portland misses you a TON - B and I feel horrible for never getting out to CO to visit, guess we'd better start planning our trip to NY since you don't know how long you'll be there!! XO
Don't feel terrible Mari! Denver was always temporary anyway. But you must come visit NYC! We want lots of visitors so we don't feel homesick. Just think - you'll only need to worry about airfare! You'll have a free place to stay! :) xxoo
